London Restaurant Awards
The London Restaurant Awards return after a 2 year break. The nominees for this year's awards have now been announced. Categories include French Restaurant of the Year, New Restaurant of the Year and Outstanding London Chef. The Devonshire Terrace
City slickers have a new play pad! The Devonshire Terrace has opened in Devonshire Square by Liverpool Street Station. This smokers' paradise has a large outdoor terrace and up to 3 (optional) private dining rooms each with their own smoking balconies. Manicomio
Italian restaurant and deli Manicomio opens in the city this week. The 3-storey building (designed by Norman Foster) includes a café and takeaway deli, The Roundhouse Bar, and a 55-seat restaurant. Executive chef Tom Salt offers a regional Italian menu, using many ingredients associated the Italian Slow Food movement. Try the classic lobster spaghetti, or pan-fried pink bream with grilled aubergine salsa. Albannach – New Gaelic Grazing Menu
Albannach is showcasing a new Celtic menu. L'Anima
A new contemporary Italian restaurant has opened in Shoreditch. Chef and proprietor is Francesco Mazzei (previously at St Alban) and architect Claudio Silvestrin has designed the space. Think sleek, and minimal: mirrors, limestone, crisp white tablecloths and white leather chairs. Sample Mazzei's signature – fish stew with Sardinian fregola. Quo Vadis
This classic Soho brasserie has been given a total revamp by Sam and Eddie Hart (the duo behind Spanish restaurants Fino and Barrafina). The newly-decorated elegant dining space now seats 85; upstairs, you'll find the Quo Vadis Members Club and 2 private dining rooms. Head chef Jean Philippe Patruno comes fresh from a 5-year stint at Fino.
